Bigelow, John. The Campaign of
Chancellorsville, A Strategic and Tactical Study. New Haven: Yale University
Press, 1910.
Furgurson, Ernest B. Chancellorsville,
1863: The Souls of the Brave. New York: Knopf, 1992.
Having previously mentioned Sears’ book on the
battle, I thought I’d at least cite (above) a couple more readily available
histories of the campaign and battle of Chancellorsville. Furgurson’s book is a
well-written narrative history, similar to Sears’ volume. Bigelow’s work is of
course the classic, voluminous analysis, subject to much criticism (not least
from Sears and not surprising, given its age and ambitious scope) and may be found
online.
